Infographics and visual summaries

Below you find a few examples where explanations are given with the help of drawings. From facts-based to more imaginative scenarios, the examples address educational and informative purposes.

In this work, we focused on investigation studies aimed to improve the quality of life of patients with the disease known as Tetralogy of Fallot. We wanted to give another type of visibility to the research work, both to show an accessible explanation and to attract potential study patients. The poster shows the motivation and methods of the research, with models which are familiar to the general public.

This work was done in collaboration with the foundation Stichting Hartekind, The Netherlands.

Together with a primary school teacher, in this work, we created comics to explain the digestive and circulatory systems.  The students loved it.

Work in collaboration with Antonio Herrero, teacher at CRA Retama.

I enjoyed creating this short comic with the story behind Ada Lovelace and her early contributions to the field of computer science. They were only discovered well after her death, but they were so remarkable that even inspired Alan Turing’s work on the first modern computers in the 1940s.

A different way of learning history of computer science.

In these two examples, a science article is translated into a visual flow. This results in a different form of presenting the work, which still contains the key ideas addressed in the article

Both works are based on articles published at Quantamagazine.org

Miscellaneous illustrations

There are multiple purposes for an illustration. See below some examples to inspire you with ideas.

Small tale

This drawing goes together with a little tale. They were created as a memory of a holiday trip.

They had walked a long distance under the sun to the point of exhaustion. When they thought they could not make it, the brother looked through the telescope, and then, he saw it. In a magical aura, the castle showed up in the distance, as a treasure hidden in the middle of the sea. “Is it so beautiful as they say?”, asked his little sister. “No. It is much more than that. It is the most extraordinary place that I have ever seen”.

Portraits and Caricatures

What I love the most is drawing people. I am fascinated by faces and their multiple variations across humankind. A few features, but millions of faces. I am learning the art of caricature, and I hope to add more artworks to this section.
